What is a Roadeo?
The Indiana Para transit ROADEO is an event that takes place annually, giving drivers from all around
the state the opportunity to compete and show off their skills. The ROADEO recognizes driver strengths
and promotes the importance of day-to-day public service and professionalism.
This years annual Roadeo produced some of closes scores on record and with the beautiful weather
mother nature provided it is no wonder everyone done so well. We had a field of 19 drivers with Kathy
Lee of Columbus Transit taking 1st place and Joe Dean of ACCESS Johnson County taking 2nd place
ensuring themselves an all expense paid trip to compete in the Nationals in Long Beach, CA. Andrew
Hebel of Link Hendricks County took 3rd place with Derek Johnson and Shelia Lyle finishing 4th and
5th with the City of Columbus. Congratulations to all drivers on a wonderful fun filled day and good
luck to Kathy and Joe in California next month! A huge thank you goes out to all of our volunteer
judges without you this event would not be possible!!!!!

RTAP provides the funding to send the winning driver to compete in the National Para transit
ROADEO sponsored annually by the Community Transportation Association of America. Again this
year the Indiana Council on Specialized Transportation (INCOST) is also sending the second place
winner to compete in the National Para transit ROADEO.
